Walking

From the Beddgelert, walks start from wherever you find yourself!  We have lots of local guidebooks and walking itineries for guests to use and no less than 12 different suggested walks directly from the house alone!  Within a few minutes of walking you can be away from the tourists and exploring some of the most outstanding natural beauty to be found in the region!

There are numerous pleasant marked paths around the village (many suitable for pushchairs) including river and lake-side routes (Llyn Dinas and Llyn Gwynant are both easily reached) and the mythical Dinas Emrys which can be reached from the Craflyn estate on the edge of Beddgelert.  There are a number of graded itineries to explore on the estate featuring waterfalls and the legends of the Dragons of Wales.  For an easy family walk, try a tour around the village and Gelert's Grave http://www.mudandroutes.com/beddgelert-gelerts-grave-easy-snowdonia-walk/

Our village has it's own mountain, Moel Hebog,  with an accent of approx. 940m - the path starts from the back of the house so is very accessible.  http://www.mudandroutes.com/snowdonia-walks-moel-hebog-from-beddgelert/   If you prefer a low level walk, Beddgelert Forest and the newly opened Lon Gwyrfai path will lead you through some lovely scenery with views of Snowdon.  This 7km path is wheelchair and pushchair friendly and is a circular route, with the possibility of returning via Snowdon Sherpa Bus or steam train to Beddgelert.

Our favourite walk is through the famous Aberglaslyn pass along Fisherman's path - a dramatic and exciting walk with steam trains passing above and the river raging below.  You are literally hanging over the river at some points as you negotiate around the newly reinstated tunnels (not a suitable path for pushchairs).  Once at Nantmor, you can continue on up Cwm Bychan past waterfalls and the remains of the pylons from the old mine, before dropping down to the beautiful Llyn Dinas and returning to Beddgelert past the Sygun Copper mine.

Three of the most popular paths for Snowdon, Rhyd Dhu, Snowdon Ranger and Watkin Path are within 2-3 miles of the village and all on the regular Snowdon Sherpa Bus service. The Welsh Highland Railway has stops at Rhyd Dhu and Snowdon Ranger, and you can reach the Watkin Path from the Craflwyn estate in the village, although it will add a lot of time to your walk up Snowdon.

However, there are a number of other mountain ranges that are equally as beautiful and challenging such as Y Carneddau, Y Glyderau, Y Rhinogau and Cader Idris. The scenic North Wales Coastal Path which follows the coast and lower mountain slopes all around our coastline, including the beautiful Isle of Anglesey is also within easy reach.
